Men's Designer Fashion - Look Your Best in the Very Best

By Sia Nasios

There are many mens designer clothing labels available today and only a few are truly great. They use the finest fabrics are made with expert craftsmanship and make you feel like a million dollars when you wear them as they should. It's the tailoring, it's the fabric and it's the attention to detail that make them great. Here are some of the very best.

Brooks Brothers was founded in 1818 in New York by Henry Sands Brooks. It is the oldest ready to wear label in the U.S. and were the first to introduce ready to wear suits to the American market during the Californian Gold Rush era. The clothing is very traditional and their meticulous tailoring is their trademark. Fabrics used include luxuriously soft cashmere, lambswool, camel, cotton and wool. Each piece is made to be a classic so you can wear it for years to come and you will always be in style. It is the ultimate in trend proof clothing.

Charles Tyrwhitt (pronounced "Tirrit") is a label that has equally high standards. The look is sharp, clean and very elegant. Their suits are exceptional and the bright ties are a wonderful contrast. The fabric for the suites comes from Yorkshire, England where the weavers have been making it for generations. It is a fairly new label that was started in 1986 and in this short space of time has acquired a reputation for excellence.

Savile Row's reputation precedes itself. It is a family company that was started in 1938. Since then its attention to detail and impeccable craftsmanship has seen its reputation for exceptional clothing spread the world over. Shirts are made from a silk/cotton blend and you can choose from silk/cashmere blended sweaters for the ultimate in luxury clothing which you should be wearing, because you have worked hard and you deserve it of course. Everything is crafted to the highest standard of quality and workmanship.

Then we come to the modern master which is Giorgio Armani. He uses superior fabrics to make immaculate suits. Comfort and style are his main concerns which is why he has become so successful. He doesn't really care for trends but a classic look that is timeless. His A|X- Armani Exchange label on the other hand is for the fashion conscious. The clothing is incredibly modern and very stylish. The tailoring is impeccable. Finishing touches are always important so don't go past the accessories.

So there we have it. Some of the world's finest clothing labels ready for you to wear. A common thread is fabric, workmanship and incredibly high quality standards. It's not about being fashionable and following the latest trends. It is about wearing classic pieces and looking timeless. We shall leave the final word to the master himself.

Men's Suits - Not Just For The Office

By Andrew Regan

Suits are ideal office wear for men – and many women – because they are smart, stylish and not overly individual. This last statement may prove contentious, but it is rare to go into an office and see a suit that is not a dark shade, with a discreet pattern. This is perfectly understandable: offices are about teamwork, rather than sartorial one-upmanship. Of course, you can always discreetly compete, with the cut of your suit and the quality of the fabric, but it is usually expected that your energy and concentration will be channelled into business.

Suits are also ideal for the business world because they look good on everyone. While it can be a little worrying to see your parents or elders sporting the casual fashions of twenty-somethings, if they wear a suit then it is likely to be completely unremarkable. Equally, even a very young man applying for his first job looks reasonably presentable in a suit. If a potential boss saw him in low cut jeans and a label t-shirt then the story might be rather different.

However, do not assume that your suit’s usefulness expires away from the workplace. Men’s suits come in a marvellous array of shapes, sizes and fabrics and are perfect for playing with people’s expectations, so you can be as sensible, stylish or flamboyant as you wish. Perhaps go for the flounced dress shirt and cummerbund combination, or keep the look pared down, letting people simply admire the way your suit flatters your figure. Or pick an unusually textured fabric, perhaps velvet or tweed, unless you are going to be dancing, in which case a light-weight fabric is by far the best choice.

If you typically sport the cool and casual look at parties just think how much attention you will get by wearing a suit to the next Christmas celebration. They are the epitome of stylish dressing and you can really enjoy accessorising with silk handkerchiefs, slim ties or an old-fashioned pocket watch. Even if you only invest in one ‘party’ suit, you can make it look fresh by changing your accessories. If the office expects sensible shoes, then you can match casual sneakers with a suit just to emphasise how far from the work ethos your evening is going to be.

Suits are also great at making the most of any figure. The only item of men’s clothing that is better is a kilt, but unless you’re Scottish you’ll likely not be trying this on for size. It is always a fallacy that a round stomach is best hidden under something baggy – a well tailored suit jacket and shirt will do a much more effective job of hiding extra weight. Although of course, clothes can only achieve so much.

So, when the Christmas invitations start coming in and you’re wondering what to wear, don’t forget the stylish charms of mens suits. Leave the standard black officewear in your wardrobe and choose one that will make you stand out from the crowd.

Formal Wear – A Man's Guide To Dressing With Style

By Kelly Price

When dressing formally all you need to follow some basic easy rules and you will instantly have a stylish classic.

The right look with formal wear for a man is easy, if you follow the tips below:

The suit

The suit is very important and is the building block of your formal look.

1. Style

You can't go wrong with a single-breasted suit. Solid colors should be used such as black, grey or dark blue

A single-breasted suit will make you look slimmer and leaner a double breasted one will make you look fatter – So this is the safe best option.

A stylish suit can present a multitude of images, all of them good!

A suit can have various looks it can make you look in control, dynamic, mature, conservative, or even sexy! Women love the look and you will do when you doing it correctly

2. Fabrics / Patterns

Wool is a good option to buy. With care It will always look good, wears well and their variety to choose from. Worsted wools by nature are lightweight and ideal for the warmer months.

Gabardine wools are heavier and will keep you warm in the winter. Wool Crepes are lightweight with softer finishes. Flannel wools are heaviest.

With regard to patterns for formal suits these are limited to solids, stripes (pinstripe, chalk stripe, beaded-stripe, multistripe) plaids, and checks (hounds-tooth, windowpane and herringbone).

The Shirt

Men with lean faces should choose collars that are wide, to help broaden their faces; on the other hand, men with wider faces should wear collars that are narrow to help to give the image of a longer face.

Ties

Today, formal wear does not necessarily mean having to wear a tie. You will see people such as Bill Gates and Richard Branson not wear ties and it’s perfectly acceptable.

However, wearing a tie can add a real focal point to your look and if you choose correctly a collar and tie looks great

If you want to make a strong statement wear a patterned tie with a patterned shirt, make sure that the colors are the same and that the patterns go in the same direction.

Don’t forget the Length it’s very important where your tie finishes:

It should hit the top of your belt buckle and t he ideal width of ties is between 3 and 4 inches.

Combining Tie’s Shirts & Suits

When choosing a jacket-shirt-and-tie trio, match its level of color contrast to your complexion and hair color.

If you're coloring is one of high-contrast i.e. dark hair and light skin, or vice versa--your jacket, tie, and shirt combo should be high contrast, too.

If your hair-hide contrast is softer and lighter i.e. you're blond or gray-haired with pale skin, or dark-skinned with dark hair--you need to wear clothing with a lower contrast.

When you're wearing two like patterns in the jacket-shirt-tie triangle, they should be of different gauges.

If your suit has pinstripes 3/4 inch apart, your tie should have significantly broader or thinner bands. If your suit is a striped one (with lines more than an inch apart), your shirt's stripes then should be narrower.

If for example, you wear two different designs within the lapel triangle a checked shirt and a striped tie, or a striped suit and a medallion tie--They need to be different scales in size If your shirt has a narrow stripe, your tie needs to be the opposite. Deflect

Choose clothes that deflect attention from your extremes in terms of your body.

If you're short, look for strong vertical lines such as pinstriped suits, two-button jackets. If on the other hand you’re thin, choose a jacket with wider shoulders. If you are of a heavier build then Wear darker colors that are monotone from top to bottom.

Watches

With regard to accessories this is the only one you really need. A watch which has a large face are seen by everyone as stylish.

Forget earrings medallions and lots of rings! The only accessory a man needs is a watch the others should not be worn, rings can be if subtle and only a few.

belts

You want to buy quality and this doesn’t have to be expensive.

Your belt color should be coordinated with your footwear and suit - black with black, brown with brown.

Shoes

Black is the traditional safe color for work but Brown and ox blood can also look stylish.

You can also use a variety of styles including loafers, wingtips, round-toe, or the trendy pointy-tipped shoe.

Don’t economize on quality. For men, shoes are the final touch and are one of the things that most people will notice great suit and look and scuffed or dirty shoes! – Don’t make this mistake

So there you have it. Follow the guidelines above and you will look the business, feel good and get admiring glances from women as well as a bonus!

Looking Good This Fall Season With These Men's Must-Have Accessories

By Tl Kleban

There's no getting around it and there is nothing we can do to stop it. The Fall season is here and the cooler temperatures prove it. All of the leaves are changing colors, and so is our choices of clothes we wear to keep warm. The Fall season means spending our spare time with refilling and renewing our closets with hip sweaters, trendy long sleeve shirts, and warm jackets.

If you're like me, then you're bored with all of the clothes you wore last fall and winter. It's time to go shopping to spruce up that wardrobe with some of this fall's trendiest accessory items. This season it's all about showing off your sophistication. The idea is to classy up that going on ensemble you're sporting with a strategically chosen man bag or pair of glasses. You want a look that screams style without being stuffy and too formal. Here is how you can begin that closet transformation.

  • A wool or cashmere scarf - How can you not like a nice warm sweater made from Merino wool? It's so soft and feels great wrapped around your neck. Most of the cheaper made scarves use lower grade wool that is rough on your skin and in turn isn't comfortable. If you have the money for one, buy a cashmere scarf.
  • Streamlined glasses - Despite what you may have heard, glasses are still in. There is just something about the image of a well-read man that women find very attractive. It's the look of sophistication and this smart look has it all.
  • A well-made bag - There are plenty of masculine bags available this fall for you to carry items in such as laptops. The typical bag made for a man is larger than a purse, smaller than a normal suitcase. The idea is for men to enjoy style combined with functionality. Fall designs tend to lean toward the masculine side, so find one in a rugged color found in nature. Another benefit of a man bag is now guys have a place to keep all their stuff without big, bulgy pants pockets
  • Leather gloves - The fall brings out all the pretty colors on the trees, but it also brings cold weather. A nice pair of leather gloves is just the thing to keep your hands warm in the cold weather as you go shopping for a Halloween pumpkin. Cashmere lined leather gloves keep your hands warm and they are super stylish. As a matter of fact, they are so stylish that they can be worn with just about everything.
  • A stylish umbrella - The Spring is famous for is April showers, but the Fall has its fair share of rainy days. The last thing you want is to be stuck in a cool, rainy fall day wet because you forgot your umbrella. A true gentleman doesn't get wet in the rain, and so a stylish umbrella is a necessary. Compact ones are the best sellers over the past few years just because of convenience but many designers make some stylish ones for those of us who prefer looks to functionality. Always buy more than one too. This way you can always have one at the house and in the office.

Men's Formal Wear - 10 Common Fashion Mistakes

By Kelly Price

It’s a fact that people who make up their minds about you in 30 seconds or less based upon your appearance.

This evaluation of you by others takes place quickly and is important in all areas of life, but particularly in a business environment, where you’re out to impress and money may depend on it!

We all make fashion mistakes sometimes, but the ones below should be avoided at all costs.

1. Short sleeve shirts with a tie

Short sleeve shirts don’t really project the right image at all and you should stick to long sleeved shirts that are a safer classier option.

2. Scruffy shoes

Are one of the most undervalued areas of a man's wardrobe and fact is one of the main items of clothing a women looks at first!

Your shoes should be in good repair, well kept and shiny. If you are wearing a suit, lace-up shoes are normally the safest option.

3. Trousers that are too short

Should be long enough to cover your socks, and socks should cover your shins even when you are crossing you legs. Your trousers should just cover the heel of your shoe.

4. Socks that don’t match

Socks should always match your trousers. Don’t be tempted with trying wacky colors such as green or yellow, with a dark serious business suit.

It wont make you look individual it will make you look stupid.

5. Belts that don’t match

Belts should as a general rule always match your shoes. Make sure you don’t economize on your belt, worn belts and belts that are too small or to large should be replaced immediately.

6. Make sure ties hang correctly

Ties should always reach your belt line and be tied correctly. A tie that is to short simply makes you look ridiculous.

7. Clothes That Are Too Loose Fitting

Clothes that are too loose, Indicates a sloppy look and that’s exactly the type of fashion mistake you can’t make in a business environment.

It’s simply not the right look to appear professional and clothes need to fit your body type.

This might take some trial and error as you mix and match certain styles, but you should find the right fit quickly that flatters your body type.

8. Wearing unflattering colors

The colors you wear should compliment your natural features such as your eye color, skin tone and body shape. Keep this in mind when choosing your clothes.

If for example, you are very pale, avoid a white linen suit that may make you look washed out.

9. Wearing To many colors

Limit each of your outfits to just one to three colors or shades to give you a simple coordinated look.

If in doubt find a color wheel online and use it to help you choose your colors.

Colors opposite each other on the wheel are "complementary colors" . Colors adjacent to each other are called "analogous colors".

When putting together an outfit, stick to complementary and analogous colors and remember less is more.

10. Wearing too many fabrics

You can get around fabric miss matching by simply separating your winter and summer clothes.

Winter fabrics will tend to be heavier and denser while summer fabrics are mostly made of natural fibers, single-layered and lighter. For example, don’t wear your heavy wool winter suit with a linen shirt!

The above fashion mistakes are more common than they should be and should be avoided at all costs.

You can’t take chances if you’re working in a conservative business environment.

You are selling your appearance and your clothes are one of the first things people are going to notice about you, so make sure you make the right first impression.

Men's Leather Pants and Ladies Leather Skirts

By David G. Petten

Men’s Leather Pants

Men’s leather pants is the main part of any attire and is commonly known as trousers, all over the world. Men’s leather pants cover lower half of the body i.e. from hip to foot. The pant word is modification of the French word Pantaloon. It is normally worn by peoples of Canada, South Africa, America and most of the parts of Asia. Wearing of men’s leather pants started from 16th century and so far it is the main part of all the attires.

Men’s leather pants fastened on the hips with the help of elastic or by the buttons and in most of the cases belt is used for holding the pant on the hips. These are commonly made of cotton or terry cots material or mixer of both. They are the readymade garments or can be stitched from the cloth. In Scotland, it is also called as trews and in England they are called as trousers.

Characteristics of pants Some of men’s leather pants are available with detachable legs and a zip is used to detach it from the waist portion. Mastering Men's Jeans - How to Find the Perfect Pair

By Jennifer Wasilewski

We’ve reached an “almost everything goes” point in fashion, especially when it comes to jeans. No matter where you go, it seems that the men’s jeans section is full of jeans in every color, size, and style. If shopping is not number one on your list of great ways to spend an afternoon, here are some tips to help you weed through the

  • Style: When you’re shopping for jeans, think about what kind of style you want. If you’re purchasing a pair of jeans for all occasions, you may want to stay away from anything to flashy. This means stay away from pockets that are embellished, jeans that are ripped or have other cosmetic designs like paint, stripes, or different bold color stitching. You also want to steer clear of styles that are over trendy. For example, for a pair of multipurpose jeans you don’t want to buy something like a bell bottom, and please stay away from tapered jeans at all costs.
  • Color/Wash: Choose a color that flattered you body and can be worn with many pieces from your wardrobe. Dark or med-dark blue is a great color because it goes well with practically all shirts and shoes. Darker wash jeans are also great because they can easily be transitioned from casual to classy with a few simple changes to the rest of your outfit. By day, a dark pair of jeans with a track jacket and tennis shoes looks great. As the night progresses, you can keep the same pair of jeans and match it with a button down shirt and a pair of brown or black shoes, for a great going out attire.
  • Width: To look great in a pair of jeans and to really get your money’s worth; you need to buy a pair that fits well. This means as much as you’d love to run in, grab a pair of jeans, and run back out; you’ll really need to try them on. When you try them on, be sure to walk around and sit down to make sure they are comfortable and fit well. Your goal is to find something that fits just right around the hips. Well fitting jeans will not be tight around your stomach, crotch, or backside. It’s also important to make sure they aren’t to lose. You do not want to be able to take them off without unzipping or unbuttoning.
  • Length: It’s also important to pay careful attention to the length of the jeans. Ultimately, your jeans should fall at the top of your shoe. If a pair of jeans is just the right length at the store, you may want to go up one size length wise. When you wash jeans, they usually shrink a little. While normal wear will help to stretch them back out width wise, once your jeans shrink length wise, there is little hope in restoring them to their original fit. Buying jeans a little longer will help prevent your jeans from turning into an expensive pair of high-waters. If possible, choose jeans that are pre-shrunk to help minimize the loss of length.

Men's Shirts - A Fashion Staple Since Time Immemorial

By Andrew Regan

There are as many different types of shirts as there are hours in the day; and with summer fast approaching, the latest styles and fashions of that long time staple of menswear - the shirt - are sure to cause a buzz in the fashion scene all over the country and across the globe.

Whilst the American usage of the term “shirt” generally refers to any garment other than a jacket worn on the top half of the body, in Britain the term normally refers to a garment with buttons up the middle and on the collar, and long-sleeves with full cuffs – an item of clothing known as a “dress shirt” in America. Whilst more formal men's shirts are often associated with special occasions and restrictive job-wear, young men in particular should not make the mistake of overlooking the fashionable men's shirt!

The variety of garments that this definition can provide stretches is both wide and far-reaching. At one end of the spectrum, you'll find the extremely informal white sleeveless shirt which has long been popular in punk and alternative fashions; while at the other end of the scale, people will find the only shirt that was officially recognised in mainland China for many years - the double breasted shirt with four pockets known officially as the ‘Zhongshan suit’, but long referred to as the ‘Mao shirt’ or ‘Mao suit.’

Thankfully these days our clothing range isn’t quite so restrictive. New fashions in men’s shirts this season show that stripes, checks and grand-dad collars are back in fashion in a big way, with inspirations taken from the indie college rock scene of the mid to early 1990s along with thrift-store chic showing in the latest lines of short sleeved men's shirts. Think fashion shirts from Weezer circa 1994 to artists such as the Kaiser Chiefs today, and you'll be someway towards comprehending how shirts should look this season!

Long sleeved shirts are also changing to keep up with the times. Shirts with deliberately pre-rolled up sleeves are proving to be popular, with long vertical stripes and a comfortable but fitted look winning through. Let’s not forget as well updates to the classic smart work shirt - and of course the ties to go with them! With the increasing popularity of worryingly skinny boys in indie bands with expensive and complicated haircuts, the skinny tie has exploded in popularity again, and is one of this seasons must have mens fashion items.

Men's Underwear Takes The Plunge- Boxers, Briefs or Neither?

By Andrew Regan

For many years, the domain of men's underwear has remained firmly divided into two camps: briefs and boxers. However, over the last few decades, the variety and trends in men's underwear have evolved significantly - so much that owning fashionable underwear has become as important to many men as owning trendy outer garments!

The revolution in men's underwear began in the 1950s, when underwear manufacturers began printing patterned and coloured undergarments. After years of simple, white underclothing, men were finally presented with more varied choices when it came to their underwear. However, the injection of "sex appeal" as one of the main selling points of underwear only really began in the 1970s and 1980s. The launch of 'designer' underwear, including Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger and Jockey, sealed the status of underwear as essentially a garment to treat with pride once and for all.

In fact, the status of underwear became increasingly exotic with the production of a series of adverts in the 1980s and early 1990s. Mark Wahlberg, for instance, embraced his success as an underwear model for Calvin Klein to launch his ensuing career as a hip-hop star and all-round Hollywood hotshot. Similarly, the classic 1985 Levis commercial - in which model Nick Kamen stripped to his underpants in a Laundromat to the sound of Marvin Gaye's 'I Heard It Through The Grapevine' - is often credited with making boxers fashionable once again.

Today's modern objectification of mens underwear has led to a number of fads. For instance, in the late 1980s, hip hop stars pioneered the image of wearing jeans and shorts very low on the waist, in order to expose their underwear. The trend has lasted the test of time and is now popular with a wide variety of men, from hip-hop icons to indie rock stars.

Popular trends of the 'Noughties' have also inspired new underwear trends; bright patterns and bold colors adorn many of the briefs and boxers of 2007, inspired by a range of modern indie and rave movements. Gone are the days when black, grey or white boxers or briefs were all men had to choose from in underwear departments - various men's clothing retailers now sell men's underwear in a range of colors, patterns and stripes. What's more, 2007 has seen the Y-front return to the forefront of many retailer's underwear lines. So whether you're hankering after a pair of fire-red briefs, or you're keen to find yourself a pair of 1980s retro print Y-fronts, you're sure to discover the men's underwear that's perfect for you. So ditch those tighty-whities and embrace a new style of colorful drawers today!

Men's Fashion Designer - Approach Them If You Are Less Confident About Your Style

By Adam Jaylin

Nowadays, men believe that looking good is an important aspect of their lives. Whether it is business or the social life, men are now more conscious about their looks as compared to the past.

The first impression always counts and a well groomed man is always given a second look. Now, if you are really serious about your looks, then you need to check out the latest trend in the men’s fashion.

However, you should develop your own sense of style and this doesn’t mean that you should merely follow the latest fashion trends. There is a difference between being stylish and blindly following the latest fashion trends. You would be a fashion victim, if you follow all the latest men’s fashion trend regardless of whether it suits your body shape or not.

For looking good, it certainly requires little amount of effort but ultimately your clothes have to suit your image, style and personality. One thing should always be kept in mind, that it is not about the clothes you wear but how you should wear them.

David Beckham might look good in a ‘sarong’, but that may not look good on you. So, you should wear that mens wears that suits on your body rather than following someone.

You need to maintain a balance between the fashionable and the basic clothes in your wardrobe. You would find celebrities and the models often overdo trends for media exposure and their look will not necessarily work well in the real world or for you. You should not get influenced merely by the brand name. The branded clothes may not help you to look good.

Lastly, it is advisable to get stylish with the dress you are comfortable with. Though, some men who feel confident can easily do this thing for themselves, but those who are less confident should approach image consultants or men’s fashion designers for their advice. Since, they have expertise in this domain area, they are capable of giving you a good piece of advice.

Men's Formal Wear - How To Dress With Style

By Kelly Price

When looking at men’s formal wear you need to follow some simple basic guidelines to get an instant classic look which projects a sense of style.

Getting the right look with men’s formal wear is not difficult, if you follow the image guidelines below.

Your suit

In men’s formal wear let’s start with choosing a formal suit.

1. Style

Changes, but you can't go wrong with a single-breasted, solid color suit in black, grey or navy blue and always remember a single-breasted suit will make you look slimmer and sleeker in appearance.

In men’s formal wear a stylish suit can conjure up a number of images, all of them positive.

A suit can make you look powerful, mature, conservative, or sexy. Remember, most women love men in suits!

2. Fabrics and Patterns

Wool is always a safe option when buying a suit. It looks good and wears well.

Worsted wools are lightweight for spring and summer. Gabardine wools are heavier for winter. Wool Crepes are lightweight with softer finishes. Flannel wools are heaviest. Patterns for interview suits are limited to solids, stripes (pinstripe, chalk stripe, beaded-stripe, multistripe), Glen plaids, and checks (hounds-tooth, windowpane, and herringbone).

Picking The Right Shirt

Generally men with narrow faces can choose collars that are wider, to help broaden their faces; conversely, men with wider faces should choose collars that are narrower, to help lengthen their faces.

Ties

Suits come in basic styles and colors, but ties let you show your individuality within a formal look.

If you want to make a bold statement wear a patterned tie with a patterned shirt, make sure that the color schemes are the same and that the patterns go in the same direction.

Finally, don’t forget the Length: It should hit the top of your belt buckle and the deal width of ties is between 3 and 4 inches.

Men’s Formal Wear Combining Tie’s Shirts & Suits

When choosing a jacket-shirt-and-tie trio, match its level of color contrast to your personal colouring.

Your colouring consists of your complexion and hair color.

If you're coloring is high-contrast i.e. dark hair and light skin, or vice versa--your jacket, tie, and shirt combo should be high contrast, too. But if your hair-hide contrast is softer and lighter i.e. you're blond or gray-haired with pale skin, or dark-skinned with dark hair--you should go for lower-contrast clothes.

Two different scales For Balance When you're combining two like patterns in the jacket-shirt-tie triangle, they should be of different gauges.

If your suit has pinstripes 3/4 inch apart, your tie should have significantly broader or thinner bands. If your suit is a striped one (with lines more than an inch apart), your shirt's stripes should be narrower and closer together.

If you wear two different designs within the lapel triangle--say, a checked shirt and a striped tie, or a striped suit and repeating-medallion tie--they should be different scales in size If your shirt has a narrow stripe, your tie needs a wider stripe i.e. pair large with small.

De Emphasize

Choose clothes that de-emphasize your extremes.

If you're short, look for strong vertical elements: pinstriped suits, two-button jackets. If you're very thin, choose a jacket with wider shoulders. If you have a heavier build then Wear darker colors and go monotone from top to bottom.

Watches

The first thing to look for in a man's watch is a large face, as these designs are generally accepted by everyone as looking stylish.

Get a nice belt

Don't forget your belt you want quality, a good quality belt doesn’t have to be expensive and is money well spent.

Your belt color should be coordinated with your footwear - black with black, brown with brown.

Shoes

Black is the traditional safe color for work but Brown or ox blood colors can also look stylish.

You can also use a variety of styles including loafers, wingtips, round-toe, or the trendier pointy-tipped shoe.

Shoes are no place to economize on quality. For men, shoes are the final detail and are one of the areas all women notice.

Men's Fashion Tips: Matching Mens Shoes with Suits or Pants

By Leroy Fong

I have received many queries by readers on how to match their shoes against their other mens clothing, like suit or pants. Actually it is not as difficult as they think it is since the choices of colors for men's shoes are quite limited. Unless you have a taste for extraordinary colors, otherwise there should not be much problem coordinating dress shoes.

Always remember that formality of dress shoes begins from the darkness of its color. For example, black is always the most formal color while light brown is the least formal. So you should match your shoes against your suits or pants based on the occasion. If you are attending a formal business dinner, then naturally black shoes are your ultimate choice rather than brown shoes.

Of late, there are more men wearing light brown or camel colored dress shoes against their dark colored suits or pants. These high contrast creates a very trendy style which I personally like. However, we should also note that this combination gives a more casual feel toward it.

What if the suit or pants are brown-based colors like olive or chocolate colors? Must we definitely wear it against brown shoes? Not necessarily, black shoes are just as fine. Of course, brown shoes would let the color flow very smoothly but black is still a color that can fit nicely. Remember that black is the color for formal.

Lace-up shoes are one step better than slip-ons for their formality. At the same time, lace-ups are split into Balmoral and Blucher types. Refer to Mens Dress Shoes Styles for their differences. The latter is always considered less formal because of its open throat design.

So remember that whether you want a formal or casual look would depend on your choice of two criteria: the dress shoe style and its color. My brother actually has a gray shoe that is blucher styled with pointed tip and polished patented leather. Due to these various combinations, his dress shoe actually looked almost formal against dark colored pants and yet with a tinge of stylishness.

Men's Shirts - Fashion, Not Just Function

By Adam Singleton

For many, the average men's shirt is simply a garment of utility - one that is worn by men across the world for reasons of function and not necessarily fashion. But this attitude belies the hundreds of years of trends in men's shirts. From the typical collarless shirts with billowing sleeves worn by classical painters to the modern formal button-down shirt, men's shirts have captured the imaginations of both designers and ordinary men for generations. In the twentieth century in particular, a range of different shirt styles have proved popular with men of all ages.

One of the most important developments in men's shirts over the last hundred years, for example, has been the invention of the polo shirt. The polo shirt, or 'tennis shirt', was created by legendary French tennis player Rene Lacoste in 1929 as an alternative to the stiff dress shirts and ties typical of tennis attire at the time. In the 1960s, Ralph Lauren propelled the polo shirt to new heights as a prominent item in his 'Polo' collection; and since this time the polo shirt has become so popular that it is now a standard category of clothing - although it has fallen out of favour with most tennis players.

The granddad shirt has also been a long lasting trend in men's shirts in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries. These collarless shirts have been popular with men in warm countries for decades and have seen a variety of incarnations throughout the years. The Nehru Jacket, for instance, is a South Asian version of the modern granddad shirt that was popularised by the first Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in the 1950s and early 1960s, and has since been prominently worn by a number of celebrities, from the likes of Sammy Davis Jr to Steven Segal. Today's granddad shirt preys on bright colours and an ethno-bohemian vibe that appeals to a variety of men's fashion trends - from festival clothing to smart casual summer wear.

The button-down shirt has also been one of the most influential men's shirts in fashion history - but memories of how it was created tend to be somewhat hazy. Some fashion experts claim that the button-down collar shirt was invented by an American shirt manufacturer who was inspired by an English polo match, in which players had their collars clipped down to avoid flapping in the wind. Others say that button-down shirts were created in New York, when their inventor (as yet anonymous) attached his collar to his shirt with buttons in a fit of annoyance at the oncoming wind.

But whatever the origin of the button-down shirt, its impact on the men's shirt industry has been historic, as button down shirts are now worn in both formal and casual contexts. Today, short-sleeved men's shirts are often worn with skinny jeans, large belts and tailored waistcoats for a fresh and informal look that still exudes smart chic. And with men's shirts available in a variety of colours - from grey to raspberry - and in a variety of floral and striped patterns, it's clear that evolving trends in men's fashion are far from over.

Men's Fashion - Designer Suits

By Masni Rizal Mansor

“Two thousand dollars for one suit?! Are you crazy? I don’t have that kind of coin to spend on one suit! Yes I am well aware of the quality and that it is well worth every penny. I just can’t justify spending that kind of money on one garment. Oh but I sure would love to have an Armani.”

Rest assured if you hear yourself in the above comments, you’re not alone. Countless businessmen would love to have fancy designer suits but their budget doesn’t allow for it; champagne tastes on a beer budget … understood! There’s a way you can get one or more of these suits without costing you an arm and a leg. If you could buy one for anywhere from $15 to $300, and it wasn’t stolen goods, would you? Read on.

Definitions on what makes a men’s suit categorized as “Designer” may vary. One eBay seller’s definition is “any brand of pre-owned suit that has sold on online auctions for $300 or more.” She continues, “See for yourself. Do a search on completed auctions—MEN’S SUITS, sort High to Low in price and see what brands repeatedly come up.”

Here are some of the brand names classified as “designer”: Acquaviva, Barberini, Baroni,Belvedere, Brioni, Canali, Charvet, David Eden, Dolce & Gabbana, Enrico Venturi, Ermenegildo Zegna, Fendi, Gene Meyer, Gianni Manzoni, Gionfriddo, Giorgio Armani, Gucci, Hugo Boss, Leonardo Valenti, Luciano Carreli, Natazzi, Nino Bertini, Otello, Prada, Rossetti, Trussardi, and Versace.

Where are you going to find these suits? If you want to pay under $20, you’re going to start hunting all the thrift/second hand stores. Yes you will indeed find them there, but you need to search. If you don’t mind paying a little more, just go directly to eBay. They are out there.

If you opt to hunt for your own, here are a few simply tips for thrift store hunting. Don’t expect these wonderfully made designer suits to jump out at you. And don’t expect to find a boatload of them all in one place. It is truly a matter of treasure hunting.

Thrift stores, estate sales, storage unit auctions and garage sales will be your best hunting ground. Not to discourage you, but it won’t be uncommon for you to look through 100+ suits until you might find one “good” one. The good news is that after you have a little experience under your belt, you will be able to whip through an entire rack of suits in mere minutes and tell just by look and feel which ones are even worthy of looking inside for the labels. Take your list with you and become familiar at which brands you’ll pause and take a second glace.

You may need to have a circuit of approximately 10-12 second hard stores that you frequent hoping to hit the mother load. You you’re intrigued in the quest, shop a minimum of once a week at each locale! Your efforts will pay off. But as mentioned above, if this is more work that you care to spend on finding a suit, you know the way to eBay.

Enjoy your new dashing designer suit!

Men's Fashion Coordination on Solid Colored Men's Dress Shirts

By Leroy Fong

It is common to find men choosing white for their solid colored mens dress shirts. They believe that it is the easiest with other outfits as well as creating a formal appearance. There are people who feel that white dress shirts projects radiance onto mens face.

However, there is an aspect that we need to take note in mens fashion coordination, which is the skin tone as well as the hair color of the man. Imagine a blond man with fair-colored skin tone in a white shirt.

The direction of focus will on the shirt or tie rather than his face. The white shirt is not able enhance his overall light colored skin tone.

Instead solid colored mens dress shirts against the skin tone and hair color is supposed to bring the focal point to the man’s face, not the shirt. It applies similarly to patterned dress shirts as well.

White is not the only ultimate choice for solid colored mens dress shirts, I would say blue color is the other must-have color for every mens dress shirts. It has the best blend into almost every mens skin tone and hair color.

It never seems to go wrong wearing a blue dress shirt to provide a warmer and richer overtone for any skin tone than white dress shirts.

Can all blue tones fit different skin tones and hair colors? Generally the best choice is going for medium blue and the suitable shade of medium should always bring the focus toward your face.

Men with tan or olive skin tones with contrasting hair color can afford to wear darker blue tones.

Fair skin men with dark colored hair have the best advantage in their choice of blue tones. Basically all the shades of blue are suitable for them especially the medium to dark blue tones.

Men with light colored hair and fair skin has to settle for light and soft blue hues. The overall blend between their hair and skin creates a muted contrast and the lighter blues will balance out this low contrast.

Mens Clothing - From Fig Leaves To Designer Suits

By Mark Dietzel

As early as 50,000 years ago, our ancestral Homo sapiens used whatever was in their surroundings to shield themselves from the harsh climate. Anthropologists have unearthed human fossils from the Arctic Circle and saw evidence of men’s clothing made of fur and animal skin. In retrospect, in regions where the temperature was much warmer, evidences of men’s clothes made primarily, of leaves and grass were discovered. These were used to cover primitive man from the dust and heat. At that time, men’s clothing was nothing more that an ingenious invention borne from necessity.

As centuries passed though, men’s clothing assumed a new significance— it became a signature for social status. Emperors and Kings wore ornaments made of gold and rare jewels; nobles wore hats, while peasants adorned themselves with shells and plain-colored garments.

Many decades later man found the means to bridge his geographical gap with his neighbors. As a consequence, men’s clothing became as diverse as the cultures of this world. Chinese men wore court dresses; the Scottish wore tartans and kilts, Filipinos were seen in their barongs that were woven from pineapple fiber. Because of this diversity, trends emerged and fashion as an institution was born. Designers and fashion magazines all fanned the flames of what was essential and what was frowned at in men’s clothing. Men were sized up by how his pants were creased, the length of his tie, if his belt matched his loafers. Fundamental rules and classifications surfaced and they became codes that the modern man lived by. For instance, brown belts should never go with black shoes. This applied across all cultures that required shoes and belts on formal functions.

Amidst this celebration of diversity, the concept of haute couture emerged. Remarkably, this gave men’s fashion the tool for individual distinction. A separation from the rest not dictated by social status, rather, by preferences. Indeed, by having clothes designed and made especially for oneself emphasized one's uniqueness.

Men’s clothing became a form of expression.

How a man saw himself was ultimately reflected by how he dressed. Everyday was one big costume party that showcased men’s clothing and its 50,000 years of history, give and take.

As life became more and more fast-paced, a new element was soon incorporated into men’s clothing-– comfort. Looking good became as important as feeling good. Modern lifestyles required clothes that did not require special cleaning and tedious caring.

In response to this need and as a consequence of capitalism and trade, technology nurtured the discoveries and inventions of fabrics and methods of clothes making. Nylon, Polyester and Lycra are but a few synthetics that replaced natural fibers. Mainstream men’s clothing was mirrored by sports wear that breathed like skin, smart office wear that repelled water, and shoes that complimented a foot’s contour instead of the other way around. Men’s clothing in retail boomed.

In the transition between haute couture and retail, constants were defined. Today, these staple articles are as essential as to men’s clothing as they were when they were first created.

The suit

In business and formal functions, the suit has claimed stake as the most appropriate ensemble in the pool of men’s clothing. A man can never go wrong by showing up in a suit.

The blue jeans

Levi's, Mossimo, and Lee are just some of the labels that have paved the way for what jeans are all about now and how they should be worn-- deconstructed, faded, or acid-washed. From a workman’s essential to a casual staple, jeans have secured its place as an icon of men’s clothing.

The Cross Trainer

Nike and Adidas have cornered the market by ever-revolutionizing shoes that conquer even the testiest terrain and the most rigorous of training programs. These shoes are not an after-thought in men’s clothing, rather, the first that is thought of and for which, all other fitness apparel follows.

The T-Shirt

T-shirts were originally undergarments worn by laborers. A classic example of metamorphosing use of garments, by the end of World War I, it became a permanent trend for casual wear.

For the years to come, fashion will continue to evolve and will continue to be influenced by emerging technologies, trends and necessity, but utility and design will always be key elements in men’s clothing. The marriage of form and function in men’s clothing will never be divorced.

Men's Clothing

The Impossible Male
Some men already have everything. When birthdays, holidays, and Father’s Days roll around, you can usually find large groups of women standing around men’s clothing stores looking like they want to pull out their hair. These women have an “impossible male” in their life – a man that already seems to have everything, including good clothes.
When it comes to men’s clothing, where can you find great clothes, at bargain prices, for all the impossible men in your life?

The Secret about Men’s Clothing
The truth about men’s clothing is that most men care about how they look almost as much as, and sometimes even more than, women do. Men want to look good, too, and like women they want clothes that fit well, look great, and feel comfortable.

The first step is easy. What is the man you are shopping for into? Sports – which sports? Which teams? Do they like fishing, golf, basketball? T-shirts and golf shirts can be purchased very cheaply at most shops across the country. Even discount and bargain stores usually have a rack or two of L, XL, and XXL Ts and polos that even the most discriminating male wouldn’t mind wearing.

But if you don’t trust yourself to buy the right kind of shirt, there are still plenty of other men’s clothing items that you can buy. Men are always in need of new underwear and socks, for instance, and they’ll be more than happy to receive a large package of plain white T-shirts, socks, or undies that you can find in any discount store or department store in the nation.
Depending on the region where you live, and the man you’re buying for, longjohns are another good gift idea when it comes to men’s clothing. For the man who works outside, longjohns can be the best article of men’s clothing you could possibly buy.

All men also love hats. We see them everywhere. Baseball caps are the most popular, but you can find fishing caps and knit caps everywhere – even gas stations. Men love them, women hate them, but if you buy them then he’ll be happy.

Other Men’s Clothing Gift Ideas
Suppose you have to shop for a man with a strange sense of taste, a man you can’t really get a handle on. You don’t want to purchase the wrong thing. In this case, your best bet is going to be in the gift card. Go to any male clothing store, get a gift card, and let him do his own shopping for a change. Sporting goods gift cards are great, too, because there’s always a huge selection of sports-related clothing and gear for men to choose from, and they’ll feel like a kid in a candy store with their fresh gift card that allows them to purchase anything they want.

Ties are not a good idea. Throughout history, the tie has been considered a standard gift for men – but it is not really a good one. Men’s clothing is about a lot more than ties, and for the most part men don’t like receiving them. Even a belt is much more useful, and better gift idea for men’s clothing items.

In men’s clothing, it’s actually a lot hard to go wrong than you might think. As long as you choose your gift with time and care, any man in your life will be happy with your choice. Men’s clothing is hard to pick out and seems confusing to buy, but they’ll be happy that you tried to make the effort for them.

Tips For Men's Clothing

By Victor Epand

So many guys have no idea how to dress, so kudos to you for taking the initiative! Being shy can be tough, but you can get yourself out of your shell a bit simply by dressing confidently.

You are 100% correct about everything fashionable not working for everyone. I don't think you should go down the "trendy" route per say. Go for classic cuts that flatter your body type. Some basics you should start with: a pair of dark-wash straight-leg jeans, a pair of black dress pants, tan dress pants, dark colored button-up shirts, a nice fitted sweater (NO, not the tight turtleneck ones--opt for a looser version), and some everyday shoes like brown dress boots.

When you walk into a store, look around before you do anything else. If you look at clothes and think: these aren't for me, then move on. American eagle is a great store for basics that are a little more casual. They have nice khaki pants and jeans, and a few fun buttons up shirts. Express Men's is another store I recommend. There, you will find dressier stuff, like black and tan dress pants, and some dressier tops.

Don't be afraid to ask sales people for help--that's their job and you will probably save them the boredom of standing around with nothing to do. First, look around the entire store. If you find something you might like, try it on, or ask a sales person if they think it would work well for you, and what to wear with it. They will be glad to help, I promise.

And the most important rule is to try everything on! Make sure that it fits properly before you buy it (ask a trusted friend or a salesperson).

For basic everyday wear, I always love guys in nice fitting jeans (not too short or too tight and something with a dark wash). Steer clear of really light wash Levis. They are not flattering on anyone. For dressier pants, a nice khaki pant is always good. For these, it is worth it to spend a little money because you will get more wear out of them. So they should fit really well.

You can actually find nice ones at the gap or men's express. For casual-wear, t shirts are always good. I'm a fan of the ones that have a bit of a vintage feel. Just make sure that the shirt is fitted. Most guys buy shirts way too big and the end result is that they look sloppy. It shouldn't be ridiculously skin-tight, but it should lay against the skin a bit. For dressier shirts, I LOVE express for men. I promise they aren't paying me to tell you this, but that store is great for guys.

They have really nice button up shirts for $25 and they fit really well, because they have a bit of stretch in them. They have so many different colors. Do yourself a favor and stay away from pink and purple. Not many guys can pull it off and it's too tricky. Go for a blue shirt to match your eyes. Probably any darker color would go well with your hair...dark green, burgundy, etc. So those are all the basics. Get yourself a good pair of jeans, a nice pair of khakis, a few fitted t-shirts, and a couple button down shirts and you should be good to go.

Men's Fashion Coordination: Colors and Pattern Matching

It is common for most men to face dilemma in mens fashion coordination. Our typical questions are:

How to match colors for mens dress shirts and mens dress pants?
How to coordinate checks with stripes?
What are the colors suitable between my suits and ties?
Are the colors and patterns matching my suits and ties?
These questions kept popping up because men generally has a poorer power of visualization than women. Men can not imagine the way things look like based on the colors and patterns through imagination. So there is a strong reliance for pictures to provide guidance for men's dressing.

Therefore, I will attempt to address these concerns and provide the fundamental information necessary to achieve the best coordination. When we look at color coordination, there are two aspects to focus on: Coordinating mens clothing against our complexion and creating color harmony between different hues and shades.

For dealing with colors involving our complexion, we would not want to wear colors that brings out the negative aspect of our complexion. For example, if you are very fair with light colored hair, then you should not be wearing pale colored shirts like yellow or white that will wash out your facial complexion further. Instead choose earthy colors to warm up the face with vibrancy.
Color combination between clothing would require the understanding of hues and tones. It is the similarity and contrasting criteria of hues and tones that brings the harmony when combining these colors. We must learn how to use the vivid colors against the dull and light colors to accentuate different parts of your men's clothing. It catches attention and yet not steal the focus away from your face.

For mixing pattern, there is coordination between pattern of same design and patterns of different designs. The ultimate challenge is mixing three or four patterns together but not looking ridiculous at all. The fundamental art of working with patterns is the understanding of scales and sizes of patterns so that you can merge them together without creating tension or strong clashing vibration.

Overall, the aim of coordination for colors and patterns is to achieve naturalness as well as bringing out the best blend that brightens up the man’s overall look.

In order to learn the art of achieving the best coordination, we would have to play around with our clothing to realize the concept. Thereafter, mixing and matching colors and patterns would just come as a natural flow in you. It is through the consistent trial and error that we build up our knowledge of what goes with what and how we can best coordinate them.

Interview With Clothing Expert - Andy Gilchrist on how Men Should Dress

By Adwin Ang

Conversation between Adwin Ang & Andy Gilchrist Good day everyone and Welcome to our Interview with Andy Gilchrist!

Adwin:
Hi Andy, first of all I would like to thank you for taking some time off from your busy schedule for this online interview. I have read the materials from your CD; you bet they are highly informative products. Especially you use charts and picture to illustrate. Also it is a very good and fast reference guide.
My first question is Andy, what have made you decide to come up with a website's that focus on men's fashion?

Andy:
It was an extension of my natural and long time interest in men's clothing. I started out at the monitor of a men's fashion Forum that was connected to Men's Health magazine and liked the idea. I then decided to write a book on men's clothes, (The Encyclopaedia of Men's Clothes) which took me two years, and the website was a vehicle to sell the book.

Adwin:
I have read and saw the huge number of topics which you covered on menswear both on your website and CD Rom e-Book "The Encyclopaedia of Men's Clothes", the information really amaze me on what I have missed out all these years.
Where or how did you develop your fashion sense? Any special training or courses one need to take?

Andy:
Some of it came from my father, who living in the middle of Kansas (USA) and doing oil exploration work. But he was always interested in men's fashion and the quality of the various brands of shoes, suits, shirts, etc. And honestly I think it somewhat out of insecurity!! Not being born the best looking guy in the world (don't argue!) I realized that image and looks was important and that I needed to make myself look as good in public as possible.

Adwin:
It occurred to me men in my country aren't really dress to impress or know their dressing sense but dress according to what they think is suitable for the occasion.
For example: Some men would wear a polo-shirt or jeans for Wedding dinner. They find it more comfortable which is obviously

Where can we obtain the information on latest trends in men's fashion? Any websites which are your favourites?

Andy:
Unlike women's clothing, most men's clothing (even for the most formal occasions) are intricately comfortable. Women are always searching for comfortable shoes, while men would not stand (pardon the pun) for shoes that didn't fit well and feel good.
There is also a world wide cultural (or sexual) mind set that men are not suppose to dress well. They are "supposed" to be unkempt, rugged individuals. But if you study every male animal species you note that the male is the more colourful!

It's good to keep up on the current trends, but not necessarily to go crazy for each fad that comes along. The value of men's clothing is that they change fashion rarely since the styles have been evolving down through a 100 years to something that fits men's body types, activities and makes most men look great. Look at formalwear - every man looks exceptionally handsome in the classic (no frills, no updates, no changes) basic tuxedo. The "acceptable" colors for business (Navy or grey suit, white or blue shirt, etc.) compliment most gentlemen's skin, hair and eye colors.

Adwin:
You mention about the "Rule of Seven" a few times in your Men's clothes Encyclopedia. What exactly must we watch out on the '7 rules'?

Andy:
Just to restate that there is a "Rule of Seven" in women's fashion that applies to men as well. The "rule" states that there should be no more than seven points of interest on your body at any one time!

The theory is that too much visual stimulation detracts from the total look.
Points of interest could be a watch, pocket square, bright tie, blazer buttons, braces, belt buckle, cuff links, fashion glasses, facial hair, vest, anything that could draw attention to that item.

So if you're wearing an exceptional pair of cufflinks you don't want to overpower them by adding too many other visual excitement. When others are visually overloaded they tend to repel you. The mistake when you have too many points of interest is that the look is loud, busy and discordant (not harmonic). Too many patterns make you look like a clown.

Adwin:
The section which I find it most interesting is on casual wear.” DON’T BE A CASUAL CASUALTY!" which you mention alot of people have misunderstood the meaning of casual dressing. I do agree and myself have always misunderstood it at the long.
What are the different types of casual wear and how should we wear to address the word "Casual wear" on our invitation card?

Andy:
Part of the problem is that the person sending out the invitation has no idea what the classifications of dress are and thus confuses the guests. There are 5 classifications of dressy and 5 classifications of casual and they all depend on the occasion. It's easy to get them all mixed up.

Adwin:
Ehm...Andy, as you know I am running a blog site on cuff links. My next question is in general how should we match our cuff links to the type of cuff shirts we wear, in terms of shirts and cuffs material?

Andy:
You can coordinate cuff links by colour with the rest of your ensemble for that harmonic impression.
You may want to coordinate the metal colour with your watch and ring, so that everything, for example, is gold, but that’s not really necessary. Many watches contain both silver and gold and colour mixing is not scorned. Traditionally gold was appropriate for day, and silver for evening, but with the advent of a more casual approach both are interchangeable. Silver goes with blue, black or grey, and gold is best with earth tones.

Adwin:
About cuff links care, how should we store them to prevent scratches and should we clean them often for cuff links made of stainless steel?

Andy:
Store your cuff links in a felt lined jewellery case or use any other method that keeps the links from coming in contact with each other to prevent scratching.
If you don’t have a jewellery case just keep them in the felt lined box they were packed in when you purchased them. Of if they didn’t come in a box (where did you say you got these cuff links?) try storing them in a soft cloth in a drawer.

Adwin:
As you know, there are many type of cuff links in the market. For a person who intend to buy his first pair of cuff links what should he look out for? Is there such a thing as the main categories of cuff types?

Andy:
STYLES of CUFF LINKS:(from most elegant to least dressy)

Double-faced are links with two identical faces attached with a metal link. You push one face through the “button” holes of the cuff. These are the dressiest.Chain links -- A chain attaches the double-faced links. Snap on are made up of two separate pieces that snap together.

Push-through -- This style has a bulbous or globular end opposite the showy side, which is pushed through the cuff holes. Also see Silk Knots below.

Hinged back -- This type has a bar, which can be aligned perpendicular to the link then opened parallel, after it’s pushed though the cuff, to secure the link in place.

Stirrup are cufflinks that wrap around the shirt cuff. Some consider these garish.

Silk knots have two knots linked together with and made of silk; one of the knots is pushed through the cuff hole to hold the cuff together. Silk knots are the least dressy style.

Adwin:
I have seen a few men's cosmetics store in Singapore but might be catering to a small group of people. But seems to me men nowadays are more concern of the way they dress themselves and they are more willing to spend on accessories.
Do you think men's fashion wear will continue to be more popular for the next 5 years or so?

Andy:
Absolutely. Men are realizing the importance to their daily lives of looking good. A good impression helps with business, love life, family and all relationships (getting through airport security!!) There will be a boom in men's cosmetics, quality and classic clothing (some with new high tech fabrics) and a greater willingness to spend money on items that make us look good.

Adwin :
Andy, having been in the men's fashion industry for many years, what are the common problems that are face by men nowadays in term of their dressing?

Andy:
The casual dressing era was welcomed by many men but then it became apparent that putting all those elements together properly wasn't so easy. Certainly not as easy as putting a suit (one element) together with a shirt, tie, and shoe and a belt that matched. It's more difficult to dress in casual mode and look good.

Adwin:
Coming back to the topic of cuff links, do you have any resources to recommend where readers here can draw information from?

Andy:
There must be a good history or a book on cuff links out there. If not, Adwin, let's write one!

Adwin:
From our last email exchanged, you are launching your a set of cuff links, do you intend to go into customisation cuff links for the Online community? How can they reach you?

Andy:
SmartTurnout, in the UK, in the UK, One of the sponsor's on AskAndyAboutclothes.com agreed to design a pair of chain style (double faced) cuff links with the Ask Andy hanger on one side and some nice blue tone stripes on the other. (so you could wear the ask Andy side out for Ask Andy get-together events and the other side out for day to day wear. I should have some news (photos, prices) very soon.

Adwin:Once again, thank you, Andy!, for sharing with us your knowledge on clothing’s and await to see more of your exciting tips and cuffs launches. Take care and have a nice day!

Men's Clothing Suit Styles

By Victor Epand

Suit jackets certainly can be worn with other things, but you're right, you do have to be careful. Can you let me know your husband's age and size? The last thing I want to do is recommend unsuitable attire!

Also, have you checked with a tailor that the pants cannot be altered? Most suit pants can be either let out or taken in by up to 1 3/4 inches if done properly, and of course the hems can be altered to suit length as well.

Ok, the dark blue subtle pinstripe, this is where the importance of your husband's age comes in! I would recommend using this for an informal/formal look and teaming it with a smart pair of jeans, and a formal work shirt.

Matching this jacket with a pair of formal pants will be nigh on impossible, but matching it with jeans and going for a casual yet still smart look is easily done. What you have to do is think about the accessories. As I said, a nice oxford shirt in either a pale blue or white, along with a pair of smart jeans and then a black belt and black shoes, either plain oxfords or perhaps a pair of suede loafers even.

For the glen plaid, this can be matched into something more formal and worn almost as you would a sports jacket. Pants will have to be dark, plain and pleated. I would recommend dark navy pants, and brown shoes and belt. In terms of shirt and tie, you can't go far wrong with a white shirt, and then a tie that brings out a bit of the color in the glen plaid, so a tie with a hint of red in would go nicely.

If you are looking for a more western interpretation, then you can find suits with a mandarin influence, or perhaps a Nehru style suit which fuses Indian themes within the suit style. I would avoid the white shirt/black tie routine, it'll either make you look like you're going to a funeral, or going to carry out a hit on someone!

What you need for interviews is something safe, but also nice and smart. You can't go too far wrong with a pastel blue (not a navy blue, more of a sky blue) cotton shirt with tie that has gold/yellow/blue in it. Alternatively a lilac shirt with a tie that has a combination of purple/blue in it works well.

A general rule of thumb that I advise is that the darker the shirt, the lighter the tie color to lift it. The opposite of that works too, i.e. if you're wearing a very light shirt, then a heavier colored tie is good.

I say go ahead and buy the suit. It sounds like a winner. There are always a lot of questions asking whether or not a double breasted suit is hip and I say it can be. It's a classic look that will never go out of style - although, sometimes the look is more "in fashion" than others. However, because this suit is a classic it tends to look better on men and not young men or teens.

Clothing and Fashion for Men

By Sarah Freeland

One of the most popular item purchased by people shopping for men’s clothing are t-shirts. T-shirts are a great option for building a man’s wardrobe. This is because t-shirts come in a variety of great colors, they offer a great selection of designs, and they come in either long sleeved or short sleeved options. Also if the man that you are shopping for is into vintage designs then you can also purchase vintage tees.

Sweatshirts are another popular men’s clothing option. In the past sweatshirt designs have been limited to grey gym wear, however, now a days you have a lot of great sweatshirt fashion choices to select from. Some of the most popular sweatshirt styles on the market today include hoodies and athletic sweatshirts.

A great men’s shirt option for the work environment is the sweater. Sweaters come in a variety of styles and they can easily be worn as professional wear or for special occasions. Most merchants that sell men’s clothing will sell a selection of men’s sweaters.

To find the best t-shirt, sweatshirt, or sweater for yourself or for a man that you are shopping for, you will want to take into consideration several measurements. These measurements include the size of the man’s neck, the width of his shoulders, and the size of his waist. These measurements will help you find a man’s top that has the right fit and feel. In addition to finding the right size, you will also want to look for the style that are both appropriate for the occasions that they will be used for and that offer a style that the man will like.
